Ian - Captain

The step up

Climbing out of the simulator, Ian felt a mixture of relief and excitement. The assessment had gone well and he was one step closer to becoming a Captain.

He had always set himself high standards. At school, he valued hard work and the same was true in his career. Life as a First Officer was great, but to progress you need an employer who offers opportunity. Jetstar ticked every box. Training and development for pilots was first-class, and if you were driven to achieve, they would support you all the way.

With technical assessment and the ground course complete, the simulator was his final step. His progress to Captain had been fast, but that was no surprise in an airline that was growing so quickly. His career couldn't be in better hands.

The perfect balance

It had only been a few hours since Ian landed his A320 after the overnight stop, but he still had plenty of time to enjoy a beautiful New Zealand afternoon.

He honestly didn't know of another airline that offered such flexibility. On any given day, he could be flying between Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown, or cruising over to Fiji.

Finding a balance between lifestyle and flying had always been important, and Jetstar offered variety you couldn't get anywhere else. Covering multiple sectors each day made life more interesting. And he couldn't wait for his next big challenge – becoming a Captain. It was just another benefit of an airline that gave you opportunities to develop your career.

As the sun set over Christchurch, Ian felt himself relax. Becoming a Captain was a big step, but was something he had been working towards for as long as he could remember. With his passion for hard work and Jetstar's first-class training, the skies had never looked clearer.
